Nancy R. Chalut

Oil Painter Nancy Chalut's career with a pencil began on a shop floor as an apprenticing cabinetmaker where sketching, drawing and working out fine detail was a basic requirement for a fine piece of furniture.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

A native of Hamilton, Ontario, Nancy R. Chalut after completing a Bachelor of Arts in History at the University of Guelph was soon to find that working with her hands was her true identity.

Nancy's career with a pencil began on a shop floor as an apprenticing cabinetmaker where sketching, drawing and working out fine detail was a basic requirement for a fine piece of furniture.

Once trade certified, she enhanced her skills in the Architectural Technology Department of Mohawk College, where she taught Industrial Woodworking and design.

Pencil skills were enhanced upon meeting Pauline Bradshaw under whom Nancy trained for four years obtaining a solid knowledge of academic drawing of representation and realism in the style of the Renaissance Masters.

Venturing further, Nancy enrolled in the Art School of Peterborough where she was offered the Richard Haymen Scholarship.
