Margaret Grandison
As an en plein air artist Margaret Grandison enjoys immersing herself into the landscape and finds herself drawn to the play of light and shadows.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
The purpose of Margaret’s art is to bring joy.
Margaret has been a member of the Stouffville Studio Tour since 2002 and joined the Markham Group of Artists in 2020.
She has exhibited in Group Shows at the Latcham Art Centre, Stouffville Town Hall, Markham Theatre, Newmarket Town Hall and with the Lemonville Group of Artists.
Margaret was educated at the University of Windsor with a major in Fine Arts and in Child Psychology.
She was employed by MindTech Montessori where she taught Art Grade 1-8 and was later hired by YCDSB where she taught Art, while working as an Educational Assistant to special needs students.
As an en plein air artist Margaret is drawn to the play of light and shadows. She enjoys immersing herself into the landscape to experience the sights and sounds that inspire her.
She likes to add a touch of whimsy and playfulness of colour to her paintings, using watercolours.
Studio work is done primarily in acrylics on larger canvases, reinterpreting some of the smaller watercolours.
Margaret feels fortunate that she can share her passion for the arts with her husband, Ray McNeice, who is also an artist, as they travel and paint together and learn from one another.
They have lived in Stouffville since 1983 and are very active in the Arts community.
