Nancy R. Chalut
Painter Nancy Chalut's career in art began on a shop floor as an apprenticing cabinetmaker where sketching, drawing and working out fine detail was a basic requirement for a fine piece of furniture.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Nancy R. Chalut, a native of Hamilton, took a BA from Guelph University, holds a Certificate of Qualification in Industrial Woodworking and was a Professor at Mohawk College.
She studied academic realism in drawing with Pauline Bradshaw and in painting with Anne-Marie Kornachuk. She received the Richard Haymen Scholarship at the Art School of Peterborough. Knowledge was further enhanced thru workshops with John Michael Angel and Dwayne Hardy.
Working in oil, many genres of representational realism are explored. Vanishing landscapes and habitats are the common thread in her work -be they rural, urban, mammal or human.
Nancy is an inducted member of the Ontario Society of Artists and has participated in numerous juried exhibitions the most current exhibitions being “Letters to the Earth”.
Studio 10
For 2024 Nancy will be showing her work at the indoor and outdoor studio/gallery/forge of Mark Puigmarti along with fellow guest artists Pat Neal and David Trotter.
